HISTORY OF BACO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

It is easy to identify the date when our beloved school, Baco National High School, was founded, as well as the names of people behind the successful foundation, the founders. But we want to emphasize the importance of giving birth to a school built from a dream of Municipality of Baco, teachers together with the youth and parents, vision and from the love to our Municipality of Baco and a strong desire of helping our co-Bacoenos. Students from almost three decades from now, usually finish elementary level only because they cannot afford tuition fee and fair of existing high schools. This is when our school is not yet founded. And this happened with the help of the former mayor of Baco, Hon. Graciano Dela Chica, Sangguniang Bayan led by Hon. Fortunata V. Castillo, Vice Mayor, and Dr. Elizabeth A. Maravilla, DepEd signed a resolution that asked for building a public high school for the Municipality. June 2, 1996, when our beloved school started its journey with only three borrowed chairs from Benito R. Villar Memorial School (BRVMS) handled and led by Mrs. Filipina C. Marasigan as the teacher-in-charge, Mrs. Rowena Manalo, Ms. Myla Castillo, Mrs. Melba Prudente, Dr. Sarlen V. Castillo and Mr. Jerico Manalo. October 1996, Dr. Elizabeth Maravilla became the official teacher-in-charge.

Baco National High School started its mission and serve 226 students on its first year. As time passes by, new generation was born and the population of our school grows continuously. By now, S.Y. 2018-2019, our beloved school is serving for a total of 2019 students with 82 personnel, led by Mr. Principal, Dante A. Castillo and his assistant principal, Dr. Gemma A. Antenor.

BNHS is located at Barangay Poblacion, 1500 meters away from Sentrong Pambayan and 17km away from City of Calapan. Annexes were founded in different barangay due to distance of BNHS to other barangays, those annexes are now independent and receives their own budget from DepEd; they are Anastacio, Jose Udasco, Pulantubig and Lumangbayan.

The school and students excel in various field, mainly because of having an active organization like Parents and Teachers Association, Students’ Council Government, and pursuing Local Government Unit under Mayor Reynaldo Marco and Vice Mayor Brederick Castillo. Thousands of Students were already graduated and now they have a successful life and career due to their love in education. This is Baco National High School, our home!
